A Comprehensive Look At The Atkins Diet Plan! |
|
June 01, 2005 By: Melissa Cameron Atkins Diet Misconceptions – No Need To WorryThere are many Atkins diet misconceptions that people construe to be true. The major reason for this is due to the amount of advertising and other literature that fails to outline the advantages and disadvantages of some diet plans. Many health professionals are advising strongly against taking up any low carbohydrate diet plan, including the Dr. Atkins diet plan. One Atkins diet misconception is that is causes Ketosis, symptoms are nausea and bad breath, although many years of research show that the diets are safe, there have been no reports of serious illnesses relating to Ketosis, and clinical studies show that the Atkins plan is completely safe (Durham VA Med. Center, North Carolina). There are lots of health professionals who would also recommend alternatives to the low carb diets that have become popular today, perhaps because of the view that a low fat diet is rather more traditional. Many have not obviously seen the results of years of research into low carb diet plans, which have been carried out to give evidence of the dangers associated with the diets, without success. There still remains that no clinical evidence has been produced that confirm the negative effects of the diet, it is quite the opposite. A number of blood tests were taken of people following a high fat diet, and this is most likely the basis used by professionals and other organizations opposing the low carb diets such as Dr. Atkins plans. The tests were only carried out on high fat diets and not high fat/high carb or high fat/low carb diets. This would disprove the misconception that the Atkins diets are not effective and only provides the evidence that the tests were not comprehensive enough to be able to place warnings against the diets.
