Atkins Health Warnings – Doctors Still Do Not Believe In The Diet

For years, professionals have argued that Dr. Atkins theory, which says that carbohydrates are the main concern with piling on the pounds, is not correct. A whopping ninety seven percent of State Registered Dieticians and professionals alike in the United Kingdom said they would not recommend the Atkins diet and have released Atkins health warnings to try to prevent people from following it.

A survey carried out in the United Kingdom summarized that the low carbohydrate diet was the reason for the Atkins health warning, and that the dieticians believed that excluding healthy wheat, which has fibre and vitamins. They insist that a balanced diet and exercise are the only safe way to lose weight.

Dr. Susan Jebb stated that the Atkins diet would have severe health risks, and should be approached with care and caution. Warnings like this have been rife since Dr. Atkins released his findings, after years of research, in a series of books in the 1970’s, and the lower carb diets are actually very popular. Professionals across the world believe that a healthy balanced diet is key to our well-being, not the exclusion of carbs.

Warnings are popular in the United States too, the National Weight Control Registry recorded data of three thousand patients who had lost over 20 pounds in weight and maintained the weight loss for over five years. Their findings summarized that a healthy diet, consisting of high carbs and low fat, was the best way to lose weight and keep the weight off.

Celebrities have helped the low carbohydrate diets take off, they have been popular since the Atkins diet book was re-released in the 1990’s but the controversial diet still continues to raise the eyebrows of the health professionals who continue to release warnings about the diet.
