A Comprehensive Look At The Atkins Diet Plan! |
|
July 31, 2005 By: Melissa Cameron Atkins Plan Facts – Widely FollowedDr. Atkins introduced the low carb and high protein diet to aid weight loss following decades of research. The Atkins plan facts are widely known, and people still follow his strict regime to lose weight by cutting down on their intake of carbohydrates to just twenty grams a day. By restricting the number of carbs in the diet plan, his theory is that the body will reach a stage called ketosis, and to get to this stage you need to begin with the first part of the diet called the Induction. This is a very strict fact of the diet, which excludes carb-rich foods from the low carb diets, food like fruit, bread, grains, starchy foods, rice and pasta. One Atkins plan fact is that you can eat as many foods that are rich in protein as you like, so for those unsuccessful on low fat and low calorie diets and plans, it seems ideal. According to Dr. Atkins, the facts are that carbs are responsible for causing weight gain, and not fat as we have traditionally believed. The debate on whether the diet plan is safe goes on, and cannot be answered until more information is presented. Professionals like the American Heart Assocation and the National Institute of health continue to recommend a balanced diet with around three hundred carbs per day. They also have information available on following a healthy diet plan, which is the preferred way to lose weight and maintain it.
