A Comprehensive Look At The Atkins Diet Plan! |
|
February 12, 2006 By: Melissa Cameron Atkins Diet Hints – Tips For The Successful Low Carb DieterDr. Atkins released four best selling books in the 1970’s, following almost thirty years of research into the effect of carbs on weight. His books contain the most comprehensive tips to completing the diet plan successfully, although I have listed a couple of Atkins diet hints that should assist you on your path to weight loss. The main Atkins diet hint, contained in the first ‘induction’ stage of the Atkins diet, is to stick to no more than twenty grams of carbs per day (equivalent to two medium sized salads, or a plate of veg). This tip introduces you to a very strict two week plan, but induces ketosis. Eat when you are hungry, following the first tip given above. Do not count calories or grams of fat, as this will jeopardize your efforts and make it more difficult to reach your target weight. One of the best tips is that when your are eating vegetables and salads on the plan, try to fill the plate with more of the low-carb foods like tomatoes and mushrooms, so that you don’t overload your plate with too many carbs. Focus on low carbs, but a good hint is to eat plenty of proteins that are contained in foods like olive oil, butter, eggs and mayonnaise. They contain high fats too, and this combination is key to your success. Another hint is to try to eat only meats and fish that are ‘real’ meats – no processed meats or imitation fish, they contain hidden carbs. Use a guide such as a carbohydrate counter. You can find special books that focus on lists of lower carb foods, and tips on tasty snacks. About
