Low Carb Sugar Substitutions – Xylitol Tastes Like Sugar

In recent times, we have used lots of sugar in our food, and more recently lots of sweeteners, but these low carb sugar substitutions have just been overtaken, in our opinion, by Xylitol. This substitution for sugar is actually made from sugar, tastes like sugar, but does not have any unpleasant effects of sugar.

It is produced in the same way as sugar too, by being crystallized. However, as far as a low carb sugar substitution goes, this substitution sweetner does not contribute to long term and short term factors like weight gain and obesity, and can be eaten when on a low carb diet such as the Atkins or the Zone diet.

There are other health benefits associated with the substitution product too. According to Fran Care, N.D. describes the product as having remarkable properties, and offers an introduction into this wonderful product in her book, The Sweet Miracle of Xylitol, where she also describes its great additional health benefits in much further detail.

Some of the many advantages of using the product as a substitution to sugar are that it features in the Atkins books so it can be taken whilst on a low carb diet. It has seventy five percent less carbs; forty percent less calories; may help prevent osteoporosis; and may even be an antioxidant (currently being studied).

For health conscious people who follow a lower calorie, or a lower carb, diet plan then this item should be the one to place where your sugar bowl used to be, its benefits far outweigh its disadvantages (it can still be expensive), but this product should become a little cheaper as time goes on. One company has begun buying the item in bulk and are therefore able to offer it a tiny bit cheaper. Buy it on the Internet if not in your supermarket.
